Official Responsibilities
The Student Senate President serves as chief executive officer of the Senate, ensuring the prompt execution of the Senate Constitution and resolutions, representing the Senate at official functions, and serving as the primary student liaison to the Administration. The President also presides over Senate and Executive Board meetings, prepares and distributes the agenda for Senate meetings, and calls meetings of the Executive Board and Emergency Meetings of the Senate. The President is also chair of the Student and Academic Affairs Committee and Student Activities Council. The President also coordinates the complaints and suggestions to and reports from Senate members on Student Faculty Committees.
Biographical Sketch
Nona Farahnik, CLS '11, is serving her third term as Student Senator. During her second term, Nona was the Senate Vice President, where she served as chair of the Student Life and Social Activities Committee. In her capacity as chair of the Student and Academic Affairs Committee, Nona hopes to advocate for policies that better reflect the needs of today's students.
